First Day & Cooking

Hi everyone,

My school finally started yesterday, I was lost in the campus when i am rushing to print the lecture notes and went to the wrong venue for the classes.

The result: enter the class 5 min before the class end. (So no face!)

My practical class ended early becoz this is the first week of school so not much thing that we can do for prac.

One of my hsemate ZW fell sick on the first day of school and since class ended early, we decided to cook porridge for her. (Since i still have not receive the rice cooker's wire that my mom forgot to put in my luggage.So i end up with a rice cooker without wire).

I have decided to cook mushroom and chicken porridge for her.

Mushroom and chicken porridge

Firstly, I thawed the chicken breast fillet on the table ( And went to catch up some nap. I end up seeing my chicken floating in a pot of water. Must be the act of my hsemate.)
Secondly, sliced the chicken and the mushroom.
Thirdly, wash some rich and immerse it in water to make the rice softer.
Fourthly, marinade the sliced chicken with white pepper, sesame oil, salt, dark soy sauce and oyster sauce and refrigerate it for half and hr.
Fifthly, boil the rice and add in the mushroom and one cube of Maggi chicken stock to add the favor. Add in the chicken last so that it can retain the taste.
Finally, boiled the porridge until it bubbles then cover the lid and let it steam for awhile.

Always rmb to stir it once in awhile to prevent the bottom of the porridge from being chao tar.

Dangdang!!! There is the nice porridge done, suitable for a sick person(just kidding, anyone can eat it)

i was unsure of the finally product but it turn out nice and sweet when i taste the porridge. But as for the chicken, it was a bit overcook and all the sweetness went into the porridge causing the chicken to taste bland.

All in all, it is a experience for me and to KT: I am sure that by the time you come, my cooking will surprise you!

Water, the gift of nature

For those who is currently living in Singapore, we knew that our current source of water is

1: Buying from Malaysia at a cheap price and sell it back to them at a couple of times more.
2: A NEW Water project started a few year back and we called it shit water.
3: Producing distilled water from seawater (since we are surrounded by sea) which cost like super ex.
4: Storing the water in as many reservoir as we can. (The reservoir number is Singapore is still increasing)

We are famous for our clean water and we can drink from the tap directly without any filter.

Guess what?

I heard the same thing from the Australian driver that were fetch me at the airport. He told us that we can drink directly from the tap and i believed him.

That is until my hsemate showed us the towel that we wrap around the tap to sort of filter the water. It is brown like mud!!!

Yes, don't doubt me. It is really brown like mud and we often find black sediment at the bottom of the bottle after one night. That is when i begin to appreciate the water in Singapore since i am going to live here like for 1 year.

Another thing that amazed me is that they have a 4 min shower campaign around Queensland as everyone should know that Australia is going through the worst drought in the last 10 year. i din manage to shower in 4 min but i have tried to shower as fast as i could.

I am starting to think that maybe the Australian govt should try out the policy make in Singapore to store the water, than maybe the water will not run out so fast.

My first cooking

I finally cook my first meal in brisbane this Wednesday. I buy the campbell spaghetti sauce and i cook the spaghetti and potato egg.

Mushroom, tomato & beef spaghetti

First, I cook the spaghetti in a rice cooker borrowed from someone and i dip it in cold water.
Secondly, I add in some mince garlic into the pan to add the aroma and then mushroom and tomato is added too.
Thirdly, I added in the sauce to mix with the ingredient to heat up the sauce.
Finally, the spaghetti is added into the pan to mix with the sauce and ingredient.
I tasted the spaghetti when i am cooking, it become hard after putting it in the cold water so i add water into the pan to soften it.
But apparently it does not work well, becoz when i eat it it is still quite hard.

Potato egg
Firstly, Sliced the potato evenly(which i din)
Secondly, cracked the egg and whip it. Add in seasoning such as salt, pepper,sesame oil, dark and light soy sauce.
Thirdly, pan fried the potato until it turn brown.
Finally, add in the egg to cook together with the potato.

The final product is sort of like scramble egg with mashed potato becoz the pan i used is very small, i just cant turn the egg over properly. I also tasted some uncooked potato becoz i slice them unevenly.

It is a pity that i did not took a pic of it but nvm i have plenty of chance in the future as i have buy the sauce again and waiting to cook it the second time.

New in a foreign land

For all those that know me and those who don'ts:

I AM FINALLY IN BRISBANE!!!.

Today is the sixth day for me in brisbane, i am going to start school next week and my major is genetics. Genetics major in third year??? I see hell coming for me.

Pardon me for not posting any pics yet coz i have taken none yet! I will if i have the chance(oh rite, as if i will) but to everyone that miss me out there i would like to take this chance to say loudly:

I MISS ALL OF U 2!!!

Especially to my labmate and dear KT & SF.

I seriously think that i am going to be slimmer when i get back coz everyone is like walking,walking & walking around here. I have no appetite for any food and just stuffed myself with what's available when i feel like it (big time problem rite?for those who know me).

I am going to West end tomorrow to immerse myself in the "wet market" culture in Australia and the worst thing is that i have to wake up at 6.15a.m in the morning to catch a ferry to that place. I have not wake up so early in the morning in the last 5 yr already. Oh my god!
